Parenting Styles: refer how parents approach raising their children. 

Including: a parents’ level of:

• Performance expectations - this may include, sports and grades.

• Demands and commands - adherence to rules and limits

• Discipline methods - to enforce expectations and instructions

There is a continuum in parenting styles - you may be a combination or under emotional stress and exasperated circumstances revert to a different style - perhaps similar to how you were parented.

There is also a range - of responses based on your parenting style that may vary under different circumstances - like under stress, parenting in public or at grandmas, or in a time crunch.

Understanding parenting styles is not just to identify what we do as parents - but more importantly how does your style effect children, their development, and your relationship - especially in the long run.
